DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
E-LEARNING
One of our clients reports a 40% increase in domestic violence cases since the start of the pandemic. Today’s remote workers no longer have the workplace as a refuge in which they feel safe, and there are multiple indicators of increasing domestic violence and substance abuse resulting from pandemic-related lockdowns.
TAG’s new e-learning course on Domestic Violence teaches employees how to recognize the signs of domestic violence, how to talk to those who may be affected, and the resources they can turn to for assistance, whether abused or abuser.
Domestic violence remains a leading source of violence risk for U.S. employers. According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, “On average, more than 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the U.S. will experience rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner.”
Every large employer has employees who are abused and others who are abusers, and these cases too often go unnoticed until there is a workplace incident too disruptive or dangerous to ignore. Victimized employees, their coworkers, and anyone in the line of fire can become a casualty when an abusive partner storms the workplace or seeks a parking lot confrontation.
Moreover, undetected domestic violence is a constant drain on employers’ resources because of its profound effect on the performance and attendance of employees enduring partner abuse and of those coworkers aware of the situation.
For 37 years, TAG’s been teaching and showing employers how to manage domestic violence that comes to their attention, and this new course enlists all employees in helping to detect this omnipresent threat at the earliest possible stage.
